happy doughnut day.

It’s national doughnut day.
I had no idea there was such a day until my sister informed me.
So of course I made doughnuts today. Why not celebrate such a national holiday?
I actually ended up making raised and cake doughnuts.
I can’t decide which ones I like best. The raised doughnuts are so light and fluffy, but the hint of freshly grated nutmeg in the cake doughnuts is to die for.

I chocolate glazed some.

 

I left some plain.

And of course, I cinnamon-sugared the doughnut holes.

I can hear the coffee pot on the stove, I think it’s ready.
Mmmm… Time for Coffee and Doughnuts.

Kitchen Time.

I has able to spend a week with Grace, my friend who lives in eastern Washington.  We tend to spend most of our times together in the kitchen. So I thought I would share a few pictures of the products our time together produced.

Quiche. For dinner.

Mmm, This chocolate truffle tart is one of the most amazing things. It’s so simple. But complexly delicious. And seriously gourmet.

This is the tart going into the oven.

Oh boy. Graces brother, Lewis turned 16 while I was there. For his birthday breakfast we made doughnuts. (Yes, it was an early morning for Grace and I.)

The chocolate glaze turned out perfect. And those sprinkles? They just scream birthday.

Even the doughnut holes, lightly cinnamon sugared, turned out amazingly yummy.

We also made these cupcakes for the birthday celebration. But before we could eat them we had to pack them for transportation… to Idaho and back… birthday surprises you know. There are almond cupcakes with almond frosting, and chocolate cupcakes with coffee frosting.

I had such a fun time with Grace. There are so many fun memories of our times together. I will never forget them. And they will always make me smile.

I’m sorry, really I am.
I have been so lazy lately. Especially when it comes to blogging.

This week is going to be crazy though. I’m excited. Valentines Day is coming.
Getting ready for our annual Valentine Tea Party will keep me busy this week. I’ve been planning out the dessert menu today. (That is my favourite part.) And I’m thinking about the craft too. I hope I can find everything for that.
The tea party is on Saturday.

There is craziness going on on Sunday too. Which is also exciting. I’m having some friends over and we’re making tamales and doughnuts. Oui, somewhat at the same time. So, I’ll be getting everything ready for that too this week. Last time I made doughnuts, Bell made them with me. That was the best. Here are a few doughnut pictures from October last year.
(Yeah, it’s 2011. I still think that’s crazy.)

I’ll try to keep up with this blogging stuff better.
And not just listen to Talain Rayne and Blue October all day. (Merci Bell.)
