Summer dinner party.

Last week we had a formal-ish dinner party. Our guests of honor were Per Steinar and his wife Randi, who were here visiting from Norway.  It was amazing meeting relatives from another part of the world. I’m so glad I was able to meet them this summer. We shared old family pictures and stories, and it was a wonderful chance to bring a bunch of the branches of our family tree together.

I enjoyed this summer dinner party so much. Everything about it made me smile. The hanging lights, the boys in ties,  the laughter and chatter of the guests, the table settings, trying to get each course plated and out in a timely fashion- It was all fun.

The boys did an amazing job serving the courses and beverages. And they all looked so sharp and handsome.

The menu-
A choice of sparkling lemonade or sparkling raspberry lemonade.
Baby greens topped with balsamic vinaigrette, fresh raspberries, and toasted pumpkin seeds.
Steamed green beans served alongside Chicken Waikiki and rice.
For dessert- Dark chocolate molten lava cake with a dollop of whipped cream, garnished with a mint leaf.

Thankfully there was plenty of food so all the kitchen help and servers got a taste of ‘dinner’ between plating and serving courses.

And we were able to play some cards on the deck ‘after hours.’

I greatly enjoyed the hanging lights and candles that were scattered all along the edges of the deck.

I wish we could have dinner parties every summer weekend. It was that gorgeous.

I have leftover heavy whipping cream to use up. I think I should have people over and feed them something with whipping cream in it.
