It’s Friday, August 6th. (I still am amazed it is August already.)
Happy Summer.
I have my laundry going today.
I am drinking tea.
And I am frustrated with my lack of musical skills. But, I am still trying. Still trying indeed. I will play this song well… someday.

This song sounds so happy on the piano. The lyrics are angry though. Bummer. I don’t know how to play any happy songs on the piano, just sad and angry… why is that? I think I need to change that.
There are public pianos randomly placed in downtown Everett. I really want to dress up and bring my vintage red suitcase to the piano at the train station and play ‘Almost Lover.’ I think that would be amazing fun. We’ll see if I actually do it. If I do, you’ll hear about it for sure!

Tim has recovered from cerebral malaria. (see previous post.) I am rejoicing. God has done an amazing thing. There were balloons blown up, welcome home banners painted, flags made- I am so happy he is home with his family.
Thank You Lord.

Most of our harvesting is now done.  I wanted to share out potato digging picture.  It is my favourite.  Digging potatoes is always a fun, looked forward to, family thing, I guess.  We dug up some gorgeous red potatoes and some very odd-shaped yellows.

Life has been filled with everyday things.  I work, I come home, I clean, I eat, and best of all….I sleep beneath my lovely down comforter.  I love my Home.  (especially after a day with somebody else’s kids in somebody else’s house.)  Today, I drank my peppermint tea and read Dickens by the fire in the quiet early hours of this house.  Since then I’ve been doing dishes and cleaning.  Getting ready for a gaggle of women coming over for tea tomorrow.  I started a bit of chicken soup simmering, my head is feeling slightly ‘gling-glong’ this morning.  Not sick…. just heavy.

We’ve done a few fun projects here lately.  We dipped our own beeswax candles a little while ago.  The smell of beeswax drifting through the house is lovely.  We’ve made donuts a few times.  The most recent were Old Fashion Pumpkin Spice donuts.  They were so good.  Oh! I tried to recreate a soup that I’ve had at Tericotta Red, very cute little Asian restaurant.  It turned out alright.  Let’s see…I’ve been doing some knitting.  Can’t tell you what, Christmas is coming you know.  Still working on my Barista skills. It can be quite stressful behind the machine alone.  I kinda like it though.  That is the one and only adventurous thing that I do, really.  Most of my weeks are the same but with the espresso stand… It adds some needed craziness.

Here are a few pictures from my October….

It’s still hard to believe that October is gone.

Dear November… you sneaky son of a gun… give us what you’ve got.

“Seventeen!?!  You can’t turn seventeen! You can’t! You’re going to get old!”
-Jessica, nearly in tears.  Age five.

Yes, that’s me.  Old.  I confess, sometimes I do feel old.  Especially when I’m waiting for the school bus with little kiddos buzzing around me.  Most of the time… I just feel like a kid, Even though I just turned 17.  I’m so thankfull for all my dear friends and family who made my birthday so special.  I can’t wait to start writing Thank You’s.

Summer fun.

Life has been filled to overflowing! Blogging has been hit and miss these days. We’re leaving this morning for the weekend but I thought I should at least share a few pictures of what’s been going on.

There has been so much more going on.  That’s all there’s time for though.  Will be leaving here soon.  Have a jolly weekend you all!

And again, I apologise for the lack of blogging on my part. *smile*

I have been knitting ALL day.

(no joke)

My fingers are hurting.

I have to be done by Saturday.

I sure hope it all turns out nice. I started knitting yesterday afternoon. (when I realized fair entries are due this weekend) So far I have finished a cupcake, a teapot, and I just have to put a handle on my teacup. I have left to knit: one teacup, one cupcake, and possibly (if there’s time) two saucers, one sugar bowl with lid, a few sugar cubes, and a teabag.

Oh boy.

Back to my knitting….

A Week

This week has been pretty dandy. The sun has been shining and I have been feeling quite creative lately. It’s been a while, it feels good.

A while ago I made some Homemade Almond Joys.

They were pretty good. A little too sweet but…better luck next time, eh? I’m excited to try various ingredients in them next time. Maybe some peanut butter or something.

Okay, so, I made myself a new skirt…I’m trying to like it. Why does this always happen? I look at it so critically. I loved getting my lovely green machine out though. All the fabric scraps everywhere- It was great. Anyways, I’m not too sure about the skirt, I’ve been wearing it around the house, breaking it in, kinda sorta. I was wearing it while I was working on my car yesterday. Odd sight I must have made…

I mixed up some Boule dough and am baking that as we speak. That bread is really a wonder, it is so good. It always makes me nervous though, while it’s rising it looks pretty terrible and you wonder how it turns out but once you bake it, it looks so lovely.

I’ve also been experimenting with Chocolate Bread. We’ve gone to a local Farmers Market and there is a bakery man that sells Chocolate Bread (among other breads) and it is interestingly delicious. I have never seen it anywhere else. It’s not a quick bread, it’s a yeast bread…but chocolate dough and swirled chocolate chunks. I’m hoping it turns out just right this time. It smells good in the oven anyways. Homemade, fresh baked, artisan bread, right out of the oven- Pure Joy. Good food is so amazing.

The roses are blooming. They smell so wondrous. I picked some for my room. You should go find some roses to pick and enjoy the lovely aroma.
